How it All Started
TRELLIS ARCH is a 501(c)(3) public charity that helps provide a quality education by donating resources to children living in extreme poverty. We started this all-volunteer organization because we were looking for a way to do the right thing for the right reasons. We focus on only a few projects at-a-time, and believe firmly that education is the game-changing weapon of choice in the battle against extreme poverty. Small organizations can make a big difference, and our action-oriented volunteers devote their free time to making a direct impact around the world – one child at a time.
Every dollar gifted is put to good use…we can supply a backpack filled with school supplies to a child in India for $20. One hundred percent of every donation received goes directly to our programs.

During his service in the Marine Corps, David Greenlees traveled to dozens of countries and saw very real suffering in places like Iraq, Cambodia, Egypt, and Pakistan. After retiring from the Marines, he set out on a mission to identify opportunities where he could be a force of good in places that really needed a helping hand. In his search to find a volunteer opportunity, he quickly realized that most organizations were not equipped to support individual, short-term projects. Undeterred, David flew to India and started his own grassroots effort with a fundraising campaign for orphans living in remote areas like West Bengal and Odisha. In just a few weeks, he raised $2,715 and purchased much needed clothing, bedding, and supplies for hundreds of orphans living in six different locations. While he was there, he handed out hundreds of friendship bracelets that his daughters made for the children there. The smiles on the children’s faces became the driving force behind Trellis Arch – small things can make a big difference in the life of a child.
